Goldkist Beach Resort (Former East Coast Chalet)
Sunday, June 28, 2009

Ah Long and I just celebrated Ashton's bb shower at this place called "Goldkist Beach Resort".

Sounds nice ya... resort leh... well it's actually the former East Coast Chalet. Still doesn't ring a bell... well check out their website.

I actually have no intention of holding a bb shower for Ashton due to previous experience. Too many people in my small 4-room flat and the clearing of mess after everything. PLUS... the taking care of bb... fwah... hell load of things to be taken care of if I hold the bb shower at my own place again... so NO WAY man...

My father then suggested me to hold the bb shower at Chevrons. Well... pretty good suggestion... Unfortunately, all chalets were taken up on my preferred date... so we headed to East Coast chalet instead.

Tell you... BIG MISTAKE!!!

Firstly, it was sooooooooooo expensive. I could stay in a nice hotel with that kind of money per night.

Secondly, it did not allow us to book just one night. For double storey villa (ya villa), I had to take 3 days 2 nights package. So yesh... doubly expensive for us...

Thirdly, there was practically nothing in the room itself.

With that kind of daily charge, the resort provides only a small table with 2 stools (note it's stools, not chairs), a small refrigerator, a small television (with no Channel U), a cupboard (with miserable one hanger), a single bed and a double bed. Full stop. Nothing more.

No sofa, no coffee table, no cups, no utensils, no kettles, no nothing...

See pictures to believe it.

Our 'villa'

Our spoil stool
Look at the state of the washing area. I couldn't believe this 'villa' had just been renovated.
I think they renovated it for the worse, not for the better.
Our small cupboard with a miserable hanger
See... everything is money in there...
And the paint on their stupid wall was already chipped off when we checked in
A closer look
Their super 'clear' TV
Toilet bowl without its cover
At the back of our 'villa'. Rubbish all over.
A closer look

We actually booked their so-called better villa as claimed by the website... and that was what we got... Honestly, we were terribly shocked by what we saw the moment we opened the door.

Ah Long was extremely fed up with the facilities and the things he saw in the 'villa' that he called the management up.

I shall relate the whole conversation between himself and the management here.

Ah Long: Hello, can I ask what facilities do you provide for the villa in Block F?

Management: Ermm... what do you mean by that?

Ah Long: I mean what things do you provide in your villa in Block F? Things like fridge, bed, etc???

Management: Oh ya. Our villa has fridge and bed.

Ah Long: Ya and what else? Cupboard? Table? Chairs?

Managment: Yes, our villa has cupboard and table with 2 chairs.

Ah Long: Oh... so there are 2 chairs??? or stools??? 2 of them???

Management: 2 stools.

Ah Long: Okie. I just checked in your villa at Block F and my villa only has 1 stool. Do you provide kettle as well? I have 2 kids and I need boiling water.

Management: Yes, we do provide kettle. Electronic kettle but you have to ask upon check-in.

Ah Long: How do I know your villa does not have kettle and how do I know that I have to request for it? What else are there that is complimentary??? What other things can I ask for from you then?

Management: Only the kettle is complimentary.

Ah Long: I need the kettle as I have 2 kids here and I hope you can bring the kettle to me as I am not informed of this complimentary kettle when I checked-in just now. I do not wish to walk back.

Management: Okie but I have to check if there is any available as we have limited stocks.

I tell you. These are all true okie. I did not make this up.

To make everything worse, the resort charges everything for money.

You CANNOT bring your own mahjong/mahjong table/chairs/BBQ pit or whatever shit in yourself okie. You got to rent it from them.

One mahjong table costs $15. Rent it with the tiles and it will cost you $23 per night. Chairs are rented separately at $2 per unit.

If you want to have a buffet, you got to order it from them.

Want to order from outside caterer? Can. Pay them $50 for it. That's not the most ridiculous thing. The most unreasonable rule they set is that they only allow the outside caterer to bring in 2 tables to set up the buffet. If the caterer requires more than 2 tables.... yesh... you got to rent the extra tables from them at a fee of $11 per table. WTF!!!

They charge everything for money and they do not provide any service.

You pay for the rental of the whatever shit, you bring the whatever shit back to your room.
You want them to clean up your room, tell them after 4pm.
You want clean towels and more toilet rolls, get them yourself.

There are more.

After 12 midnight, no more than 3 persons are allowed to stay overnight there. Ha Ha Ha!!! 3 persons??? They must be joking. When ask why. They say they are not chalet. They are resort hor... sibei cannot make it right... might as well say they are hotel la...

There are a lot... a lot and a lot of things to complain about regarding this 'resort'. If you don't believe what I say, go book one and experience it yourself lor. I tell you... 100% regret one la.

BTW, I forget to tell you about their counter service. They suck too. Pay them money still have to see their black face. KNN!!!

This is the first time and last time I am ever going to book a 'villa' there.

A big fat ZERO star for this CHALET!!!

Big girl Avril and Baby Ashton
Wednesday, June 10, 2009

I realize I haven't been updating my beautiful Avril aka QiQi's photos recently. I have so many of her pictures taken that it is so difficult for me to choose which to upload.

Since I have the time now... I'll just upload some of them for your viewing.

Just one week before I went for labour, Ah Long and I brought Qi to the "Bonding" seminar organised by MediaCorp. If you have been watching TV commercials about that seminar, you could spot Qi on TV for a mere 1 second...

It was singing and dancing time then and Ah Long brought Qi on stage with the rest of the kids. You could see other kids singing and dancing happily while Qi just stood there and stared at them.

No matter how hard I tried to make her dance, she refused to even move her butt. Hiyahz... bo bian lo... we carried her back to our seat and put her on the table. Once she's back to the table, she danced like nobody's business man... I think she's shy la... hahaha...

Anyway, the seminar wasn't up to expectation la... I already know the things that were being taught there lo... Waste time waste effort.... most importantly, waste money on carpark...

Parking a car in Orchard is really no joke. Just 3 hours and we paid $8+ for the parking fee. Plus ERP leh... wah piang... Next time family outing cannot go Orchard.

QiQi staring at some other kids instead of dancing.
QiQi dancing happily on the table.

One of the RMs in my office has a girl who is 5 months older than QiQi. So she packed a bag of clothings and accessories for me before I went for maternity leave... so kind right my colleagues... you want also dun have... hahaha...

There were few hairbands in the bag and I picked one for QiQi to wear. QiQi doesn't like things to be on her head... so must use bait to 'sia' her to wear... My bait would be YAKULT!!! hahaha...

Pretty QiQi in handband... so cute
Yakult to the rescue... hahaha...
Whenever I say "QiQi Mei Mei", Qi would do this.

Baby Ashton has arrived on 31st May 2009
Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Dear friends

After 39 weeks of pregnancy, I finally gave birth to my baby boy Ashton on 31st May 2009. The exact timing shall be kept a secret cos according to some of my friends, it is not supposed to be announced at all. It's the baby's 八字 you know.

Well, I din expect some of you to know cos I myself didn't know that when I gave birth to Baby Avril... happily msg-ing her 八字 to all of my friends... hahaha.

Anyway, the whole process of this delivery is totally different from my previous. To know the full story of my first delivery process, please visit my friendster blog.

This time round, I had contractions first. The contractions started mild at around 10.30am on the last day of May. I was having mee hoon for breakfast when I first felt the contractions. Initially, I thought it off as a normal tummy upset cos I had too many "ba zhangs" for the past few days... wahahaha...

But then... not right leh... the "tummy upset" how come came once every few minutes and the pain was like getting stronger and longer every time??? THEN I realized that this might be it!!!

Actually I was not exactly pleased with the contractions cos I wanted to wait for my gynae to come back before giving birth. My gynae went overseas for 2 weeks and would be back to Singapore by 2 June 2009. I would just have to wait for 2 more days, just 2 more days for her to come back.

Anyway, I waited until around 2pm+ (after Qi fell asleep) before asking Ah Long to drive me to the hospital.

Before admitting to the labour ward, I was directed to the midwife first. This midwife checked upon me and said I was 4cm dilated already... hahahaha... That sentence sounded so very familiar to me man. The other time when I was there to deliver Qi, that midwife told me the same thing "4cm dilated" and sent me to the labour ward... BUT when my gynae came, she told me I was only 1cm dilated... Qi Tian Pi Li!!!

I never trusted the midwife's words... wahahaha... but I sure hope she was right. Well... she wasn't very accurate la cos when my substitute gynae came at around 5pm, I was 4cm dilated still. :Þ

My contractions then was still mild... once every 8 minutes. I was still thinking if I should take epidural this time or take the risk. Finally, I set my mind..... which was to...... TAKE IT.... wahahahaha... cos the contractions were getting unbearable la.

I wanted to be like my friend, Yuzhen who did not take the epidural for her second baby too but I really couldn't do it. Besides, my baby was comparably bigger than hers so I really doubt I could take it to the end...

Better be safe than sorry... take epidural first la...

I took the epidural at around 5.30pm while watching the re-telecast of the dunno what beach volleyball show on Channel 8.

The epidural was... Oh My God... indescribable! I don't remember having that kind of feeling during my first time (I think I happily forget about it).

The cold sensation that ran through the back of my spine while I was having the injection was not good. The total numbness shortly afterwards made things worse. I think the doctor injected far too much epidural into me which caused me to feel nothing from waist downwards. I could not even do the simplest thing like raising my butt up.

I thought to myself "Die la... like that how to push later? At least I did feel some contraction when I was giving birth to Qi... I knew when to push. Like this how?"

At around 6pm, I felt breathless. Baby Ashton's legs were like trying to stretch and it somewhat felt like blocking my breathing pathways (I dunno). Now how was I supposed to push with the pain leh?

At around 7pm, I was fully dilated and ready for delivery. The two nurses scared the shit out of me la... They touched touched my tummy and said... "Ting Ting, you must push very hard okie cos your baby doesn't look small. It seems like an OP."

"What the hell is OP man?" I wondered.

Then I was given an oxygen mask (which was never presented to me when I gave birth to Qi). I thought to myself again... "Wah... got so serious meh???"

The first intake of the oxygen was YUCKS!!! Smelly la... but subsequent intakes were fine. In fact, the oxygen actually drove Baby Ashton downwards and gave me the strength to push. The nurses asked me to push before my substitute gynae came. First 3 pushes and Baby Ashton's head could be seen already (according to the nurses).

Thereafter, the nurses called upon my gynae and within the first 3 pushes, I managed to get Baby Ashton out. I was surprised. Ah Long was surprised. Even the nurses were surprised how smoothly everything went. I was complimented for doing such a good job... wahahahaha... of course la... I know the techniques of pushing liao mah... wahahaha... *hao lian*

So for those going or planning to give birth de... can ask me on the techniques man... wahahaha...

That's all for my 2nd baby's delivery story.
Thanks for reading... hahahahaha... and enjoy the pictures below...

My labour ward Number 1.
Yeah... here comes Baby Ashton... That's the umbilical cord by the way
Baby Ashton weighing an astounding 3.795 kg. Bigger than his sister wor...
Honestly, I dunno what is the nurse doing...
Staring blankly
This picture looks so familiar la... Ah Long had one with QiQi too... wearing the same jacket somemore.
Family photo is a must la.
Getting ready to be pushed to the nursery.
Baby Ashton on Day 2. Sleeping soundly after feeding.
That's my MaMa and QiQi in my ward. My ward spacious right??? Hahahaha...
Got "balcony" somemore that U would think I'm staying in an one-bedded right?
It's actually a 4-bedded room. I'm just lucky to be placed at a bed where there is an additional space... hehehe... but useless la... cos not more than 2 visitors can come and visit me at one time due to the stupid Swine Flu.
