My poor camera!!!
Friday, April 24, 2009

Within a time frame of two years (or less), your friend here is going to buy her 3rd camera!!! What a spendthrift ya... hahahaha... NOT!

Here's what happened.

My Panasonic Lumix FX01 was stolen at my own home, if you can remember.

So I bought myself a Sony W150 last August at an IT show. It was a great bargain then cos I was given two batteries, two 4G Sony memory sticks and lots of other accessories including a pink leather casing which was supposed to sell separately at a cost of SGD 55.

I simply loved that camera to the max la cos it captured excellent outdoor photos. Best of all, it was in bright pink - a very beautiful colour.

Hiyahz... but good things just never last.

Brought QiQi to Jurong West swimming pool one weekend (2 to 3 weeks ago). I wasn't swimming cos i couldn't fit into my one-piece swimming costume (that's for sure) and I was not daring enough to put on my bikini in my current state. So Ah Long was the one who took care of Qi in the pool.

As I was standing beside them near the shallow water of the wave pool, Ah Long decided to go swimming for a while himself....

Then disaster stroke.

Qi lost her balance and submerged into the water. The moment I saw this, the next natural reaction of mine was to scoop her up. With this 'scooping' action, my camera went for a dip in the water for probably 2 seconds.

And yes... 2 seconds into the pool and off the camera went.

Sent it for repair but was told that guarantee did not cover water damages and that the total repair costs would add up to $500+ which exceeded the cost price of the camera itself.

So what's the point of me getting it fixed??? Might as well buy a new one lo...

So there you go, this is your friend here about to get herself a 3rd camera in 2 years time.

Wa the cau... Who buy so many cameras in such a short span of time sia??? TMD!!!

I'm looking at Sony H10 at the moment (I still prefer Sony leh) but Ah Long wants to buy a digital camera that's waterproof to prevent such things from happening again... hahahaha... I am not in favour of it though... kekeke.. cos Sony doesn't have waterproof digital camera.

This entry explains why there is no photos recently.

I shall update you with my new scrap layouts once I have my camera. I'm so into scrapbooking recently that I did quite a number of pieces in the month of April itself.... wohohoho... I'm so proud of myself... :)

There's no ending to the examples we have of barbaric behaviour, do we?

Here's another one.

Quoted exactly from an email I receive some time back.
"What kind of example is this man setting for his young son seated next to him, wonders a STOMPer, who allegedly approached the former to give up his priority seat to an old woman.

Ben was appalled by this.

He emailed STOMP on Mar 21 and said:

"It was a rainy afternoon when I boarded the ever crowded train at Dhoby Ghaut. I was dismayed by the sight of a father and son, both sitting on priority seats not willing to give up their seats to a frail old lady.

"Thinking that he may be too engrossed in his papers, I tapped him and asked," do you mind giving up your seat to someone who needs it more than you? You are on priority seats." With the papers in his hands, he looked at me briefly and replied nonchalantly, "I mind."

"I mean, I’ve read of cases like such on stomp and I wished id never had to witness it myself. It was the most disgusting sight I witnessed in a long while. He looked like a nice educated man. Sadly, he’s only educated in his head and not in his heart.

"Worst of all, he was with his son. There are times we question the educational system in Singapore. But seriously, what are some parents teaching their own children?

"As the old lady refused for her picture to be taken, I have taken photos of the father and son on priority seats. I sincerely hope that photographs of them would be published! The ugly Singaporeans. Whats worse? He’s an ugly father!

"Honestly, the best part of this social experiment, everyone saw but no one but another "auntie" who gave up her own seat."

See his face I feel like slapping him already

Now you question... why is there no ending to this?

The answer is simple. Bcos of ppl like him. Behaving in such manner right in front of his kid. So the kid will grow up to be an asshole like his father and this will continue to happen unless people like him perish in this world this very second.

Also, Singaporeans are so damn one kind KIA SI. Why no one dare to stand up for Ben??? Everyone actually ignores the whole episode altogether wor. Am I the only few righteous persons left in Singapore???

Harlowwwww!!! Anybody out there????

What I've learnt from this email....
Next time if you want to help an old man or lady/a pregnant lady to find a seat in the train, dun be courteous by asking "Do you mind".

Simply say "Oei Qi Mi Eh, Ga Lim Pek/Lim Bu Kee Lai" (say in hokkien - direct translation simply means "wei blind one, get your butt out of the seat".
