CNY 2009
Thursday, January 29, 2009

It's been so so so long since I last blogged.

Actually, I have written this blog entry in January BUT I only manage to upload all pics today... so this explains the delay. :Þ

Bo bian... too busy with........................................ my FaceBook Pet Society Game.... hehehehehe.... All because of my office ngak ngak la... asked me go sign up for the Pet Society... in the end kenna addicted to it.

Not only my pet is keeping me busy, my scrapbook fever is slightly on the rise again.

So the above two points clarify my disappearance.

Anyway, back to the topic - Chinese New Year 2009.

Honestly, I dun understand why people dislike celebrating CNY. Me for one simply LOVE it. I'll explain why.
  1. You get to have at least two days off without taking your own leave.

  2. You get to see your long-time-no-see relatives.

  3. You get to gamble with your relatives and friends.

  4. You can feel the CNY mood whenever you go Chinatown.

  5. You can receive ang baos (Dun tell me you are married without kids so no ang baos lo hor... your parents sure give you one wat...)

  6. You can have all the goodies in the world.... Ba Gua, chocolates, sweets, kueh bangkit, kueh bulu, pineapple tarts, etc etc... This is the time to let your hair down and eat all you want without giving any reasons.
See see see.... so many reasons for you to like CNY. So please start liking CNY from next year onwards la... hehehehehe...

I have been very busy throughout the whole CNY this year. Besides my normal playing with my virtual pet and scrapbooking, I also did a lot of outings.... hohoho...

CHU YI

My Chu Yi (First day of CNY - 26 January 2009) started off very traditionally. Went to Ah Long's grandfather's place for a while before heading back to my own home.

My home were filled with all my paternal side de relatives by the time I reached home. As a host, you must provide food for the guests right???

To minimise all the trouble, we ordered a buffet dinner from Neo Gardens that day. I tell you, the buffet that day was so damn expensive. Buffet everywhere were asking for high-fetched price per pax for that day itself. A normal set of buffet dinner costed us $18.88 per pax. Almost double the price of a normal day order.

But still, we ordered the buffet dinner set la cos lazy to cook la. However, we went all the way to collect it just to save on the delivery cost... hahahaha... a little bit also counts okie.

No regrets for ordering the buffet though cos the food was excellent and their service was damn pro. Food was nicely packed in boxes and everything was then packaged into one big (but manageable) cardboard box. Desserts and soup were packed separately in a beautiful recycled bag and everything was collected within minutes. No hassle at all.

After dinner, GAMBLE time. It's a year for the roster and monkey. Both Ah Long and I won some money.... hohohoho...

CHU ER

Continued with the gambling session at Yishun - my fourth aunt's house.

Similarly, there were mahjong and poker table la... see which one you want. But also must see got place for you anot la... not you su ka su ka want then got one lo hor.

Ah Long went ahead with the mahjong first. As usual, he became the 'cai shen ye' or 'shen dan lao ren'. One round of mahjong only lost $105 liao... very lousy... wahahahaha... Every year must lose money to my aunties one... no wonder my aunties' eyes all brightened up when they saw him... wahahaha...

After his mahjong session, he went for the poker. Initially lost a bit nia but the last round of being the dealer, kenna paid all the players three times in a row. In the end, he lost another 50 bucks. Ke lian wor... the winnings for first day wasn't even enough to cover his lost in poker, not to say the mahjong la... wahahaha...

As for me, I lost $2 in poker that day. If I did not have to take care of QiQi, I could have concentrated on the game and won that day lo... wahahahaha.... but then again I could have lost even more also... hmmmm......

Here are some of my favourite pics taken at my fourth aunt's house.

QiQi happily climbing the stairs, totally oblivious to our tiredness... very tired one leh... having to accompany her up and down the stairs

Hohoho... QiQi found a soft toy. She loves soft toys.

Big Head Small Body

Happy QiQi

CHU SAN

Took leave that day. Brought QiQi to Sentosa for the annual Sentosa Flower Festival.

Hiyah... advertise until so big... ya right... big disappointment. Nothing much to see really and I dunno why but Sentosa was filled with Mangalas and people from Cheena that day... arghhh...

The heat was already killing me plus with all the people around, it wouldn't surprise you that we spent less than an hour there.

Thereafter, we went to Ubi for a change in QiQi's thermometer. Spoilt within a year of purchase so we had to go all the way to Ubi to change it. Super troublesome. If we did not have a car, I die die also would not go there for a change. But then again, the thermometer costs $105 leh... if dun change, that means I am going to spend another $105... *double hmmmm*

Daddy and QiQi at Sentosa Flower Festival

Mummy and QiQi at Sentosa Flower Festival

So pretty

I really envy those kids... can soak themselves in the water under the hot sun... Me was getting all sweaty in the hot weather man

QiQi was wondering... "Simi Lai Eh"

Crossing the bridge was a chore with a pram. Ah Long was actually carrying the pram and QiQi. Heavy okie...

The hot sun was making QiQi sleepy

Our first family photo of the day with all those 'extras' behind... TMD

Nice smile from QiQi but not very nice flowers... wasted

Second family photo of the day

Nice... I like

Must take picture with the balloon to tell everybody that we were at Sentosa Flowers 2009

CHU LIU

Visiting again. This time round to my friend, Huixian and teacher, Mrs Chee's place.

Huixian's father-in-law cooked lunch for us. Shanghai style. Hiyo... with such father-in-law at home, how to go on diet??? Super nice lo the dishes.

Thereafter, we headed to Mrs Chee's place. Watched "Meet the Forkers" (Yes I know it's an old show but still it's funny) and "Get Smart" (Super stupid show) DVD. Had "Lo Hei" and KFC for dinner.

The "Lo Hei" was so funny. By right, we had to say something auspicious whenever you placed a dish or ingredient one BUT we went by left la... say whatever we deemed is correct... hohoho

HUAT Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh Boy... look at the mess we made :Þ

CHU QI

Brought QiQi to "He Pan".

Didn't realise that the "He Pan" actually had opening hours. @$@#&^@!%^#@$^& #$#%^@. We reached there at 5pm but "He Pan" only opened at 6pm... so we went to Singapore Flyers instead.

That was our first time going there. Quite happening lo cos there were a lot of events going on. There was a MP there but unfortunately, I couldn't recognise who he was... wahahahaha... He played with Qi for a while and shook hands with us. I pretended to know him and shook his hands in return... wahahaha...

Had dinner at Popeye. If you dunno what is Popeye... hiyoh... where have you been sia? It's similar to KFC. A lot of people prefer Popeye to KFC but I still prefer my KFC leh. Dun really like Popeye. I think it's bcos of the high ratings my friends gave la so I was hoping for more. In the end, it tasted okie nia.

Anyway, we reached the "He Pan" at around 7pm. It was already packed with people lo. Managed to take a few pics here and there before making our way out.

Coincidentally, we met the unfamiliar MP again. This time round, he stood at the entrance of the "He Pan". There were some other people along with 6 'lions' standing with him. We waited there for a while anticipating 6 lions to dance together.

After a while, a black car appeared out of nowhere and Mr Lim Swee Say came out of the car.... yuen lai these people were waiting for him la. The moment he appeared, the lions started dancing but at the other direction la...

So NICE!!!

That's QiQi's smile... only four teeth

At the He Pan

QiQi's zodiac sign... PIG

Nice too...

CHU SHI SI

Did something most of my friends would not do. I queued up for free tickets to the Singapore Flyers!!! kekekekekeke

My mother la... told me that FM 958 was giving out 800 ang baos to the listeners, of which, 588 of them contained one admission tickets to the Singapore Flyers. The remaining angbaos each containing money with the highest valuing S$1188.

Hence, Ah Long brought us (Me, Mother and Qi) to the Singapore Flyers la... since none of us had the chance to take a ride there yet.

The angbao giveaways started at 2pm but being kiasu, we reached there around 12.45pm. Hohohoho... we were not the 'kiasu-est' of all cos there were already a long queue by the time we reached there.

Fortunately, we were among the first 800 so we still managed to have an ang bao each. All 3 of us (excluding Qi) got the free admission tickets which was fortunate enough cos I heard an uncle saying "Wa biang eh... I got $2 angbao". Queued for so long and got $2 in the end.... ke lian wor...

After almost 2 hours of waiting, we finally got the free tickets. Excitedly, we went for the ride. The air-conditioning was heaven sent. I was about to die of heat exhaustion then lo. The ride though was... nothing spectacular.

It was said that the ride lasted half an hour but I thought it ended within the speculated time. My two-cents worth of thought about the Singapore Flyer = NOT WORTH PAYING $29.50 PER ADULT TO GO UP. TRY IT ONLY WHEN IT'S FREE.

Our Cai Shen Ye... no telepathy la. We looked at our own camera while he was looking at the photographer's camera. No wonder never win ToTo 2009.

QiQi's Big Head photo again... so funny. Dunno why she was extremely excited that day. Couldn't sit tight and full of expressions... just look at the photos below...

Silly expression
Deep in thoughts

Here we go...
