Arghhh... my Phuket trip ar...

Gone were the days that I agreed to go holidaying with my friends without hesitation. Gone were my straightforward, decisive and direct
"Okie la. Onz la" answers and gone were the days of enjoying a long holiday with Ah Long and my friends.
Ever since QiQi is born, there are a lot of factors to consider before I make a decision. I guess it would probably take a while for me to go for another long trip. Thank God (or Buddha) that I actually went Europe before I gave birth to QiQi. Otherwise I would never have a chance to experience the life in Italy and Switzerland.
(BTW. in case some of you misinterpret my words, I'm not complaining about having QiQi. I'm just trying to say that having a baby would mean you no longer lead a carefree life. So for those who are considering having a baby, please be mentally and physically prepared :Þ (It's not as easy as it looks))
I'm not trying to hao lian la but to me, travelling is essential. I mean you only live once. Why not just get out of Singapore once in a while and explore the world as much as you can while you are still young? Correct anot?
I have been too busy coping with QiQi and my new working environment that I totally absolutely completely chuck the idea of holidaying aside for the past 1 year and 7 months.
Now that I'm coping better and with the fact that I need to clear a 5-days straight leave within this year (a requirement by MAS), I've decided to go for a short trip to somewhere where I can relax. No more joining of tour groups and rushing like mad schedule for me.
Krabi, Phuket, Bali even Maldives and Mauritius are some of the places on my list for what I call a relaxing holiday.
Since it is my well deserved break, I am actually prepared to stay in a slightly-more-than-my-usual-expense hotel. I want hotels with either direct pool access (so that I can jump straight into the pool the first thing I wake up in the morning) or hotel with big balcony overlooking the beautiful beaches.
With my high expectation, Maldives and Mauritius are omitted from my list almost immediately. as a simple 5-night stay in either Maldives or Mauritius easily costs me
USD2300 per person!!! Oh.... My.... God!!! I'm prepared to spend a little fortune, yes BUT I'm not prepared to spend it unwisely... so there goes Maldives and Mauritius (even though the beaches are way better than those in Phuket and Bali). Anyway, I dun think I would be able to enjoy with just 5 days there.
Bali is the next to be omitted... for obvious reasons.
BOMBING!!! Call me timid mouse or coward chicken la but I'm not going to Bali. Just as you feel it is safe there, another bombing attack striked. It's always the case for Bali. There has not been bombing for quite some time le and I am not going to risk my life going there... hohoho.
Next is Krabi. I actually love that place. Slightly less populated by tourists than Phuket so I assume it would be cleaner there. The only problem is.... there is no direct flight from Singapore to Krabi. I would either have to take a plane from Singapore to Bangkok then to Krabi OR from Singapore to Phuket then to Krabi.
What's the point right? Take here take there... machiam I'm spending a lot of days in Thailand. I only got 5 days and I would try to spend as little time as possible on travelling.
Which means to say... I'm left with PHUKET!!!
It took me a few days to finally decide on Phuket as my place of vacation. It took me another few days to check the timing and pricing of the different airlines. After much research, I decided to book my air tickets with SilkAir.
My E-ticket
Yeah!!! So happy... I finally placed my order! Am so looking forward to the trip. I started doing tons of online research on Phuket and their places of interest so that I can draw an itinerary for myself... And then....
晴天辟历阿!!!My colleague sent me this piece of shocking and unwanted news, first in the morning...
And second email in the afternoon
I tell you... I totally absolutely and completely sianz lo.
Don't these people have a life??? Why do they like to start all these nonsense once every few months??? Nothing better to do is it??? Don't they know they are ruining their own life cos they are disrupting their tourism business which could constitute major revenues for them???
Read the news and you will know that their stock exchange has already suffered severe damage because of this. It's not as if their life would change for the significant better if their PM (whoever he is) steps down right... their whole Government is corrupted anyway.
Gek sim leh... I was still happily searching for hotels to stay, blah blah blah....I guess I have to stop searching for now... just in case this whole riot thingy prolong to October. You never know...
Hiyahz... also good la (as in I can take a break from doing all those research). I would have time to scrap now.
Hopefully things will be better in October. Otherwise, I also dunno how. SilkAir will refund me anot huh?
????????????????????????????????????????
